I have wanted to work on some line drawing for some time. I have always been inspired by FengZhu, Scott Robertson and others who have that industrial design background and truly master perspective line drawings.
   I have worked for a long time in photoshop and have worked in a technique with only simple preliminary sketches, and then I block in value and start painting, I only bring in some tight lines at the end. The problem is, although it feels more flexible, it hides the fact that sometimes I am not committing to forms. When all you have is line, you cant fudge it. I hope to do more of these as part of my daily sketch series and watch some improvement with practice. Its also one of the reasons I purchased a cintiq companion, so I am working that into my workflow for these.

NEAR FUTURE EXCAVATOR! My son has been really into heavy equipment lately so it got me thinking about doing something other than a battle vehicle.

There you have it. my attempt at creating more images, regardless of how they look. I had a weird dream as I was awakening today and thought I would try to capture it as best I could.

I am giving myself a 1 hour max timelimit on these so I can hopefully stick to doing 1 a day for as long as possible.

I am aware of how hard it is to commit to that, but I think if I do my best, I will at least get better at composing images and not being too attached to each one.

Was scrolling through my folder of old sketches and found this page with a sketch of 2 models of the Gallery Girls back when they came through San Francisco. Probably been a couple years by now. I just wanted to paint something into a value study.

SPACE TRAIN - An electromagnetic railgun to escape Earth's atmosphere

Here are some sketches of a Space Train. It is a means of generating enough velocity to break out of Earth's atmosphere, timed with the rotation and trajectory to put its many passengers on a path to a distant destination with minimal need for course correction. Just trying to save on fuel and rockets.

Al Jumhuri Morgue

Its a nightmare scene that I have replayed over in my mind to the point its just a familiar sight. December of 2004 during my deployment to Iraq I had to make several stops at the local hospital and had to go into the morgue on a couple occasions. I can't say what the cause of death was for everyone in there, but the volume of bodies generated by the war outpaced the hospitals' ability to deal with it. This holding room on the east side of the examination room was stacked to overflowing, and the extra containers outside were packed. Due to frequent power outages, they could not be kept cool in the hot climate.
    I have often considered making artwork about the deployment but have found it difficult to bring myself to do as it is not light - hearted work.
